Hopkinton has called a Special Town Meeting for Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, according to a notice posted on the town's website, while the town separately seeks resident input on its ongoing search for a new police chief.

TOWN HALL

The Town Clerk's office posted notice this month of a Special Town Meeting scheduled for Monday, Oct. 26, 2026. The posting did not include the warrant or specific articles to be taken up; residents can expect further detail as the date approaches.

Separately, the town has invited community input on its recruitment process for a new police chief, per a notice posted Aug. 14. The Town Manager's office also issued its latest weekly operations update on Aug. 27, the most recent in its regular series of briefings on municipal business.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Hopkinton Public Library staff will travel off-site on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. to noon for a visit to Fairview Estates, part of the library's outreach programming for residents who can't easily get to the Main Street building. The library has also set a virtual program, "The Democracy We Must Keep: Why the Ideas that Built America Still Matter," for Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 2 to 3 p.m.

The library's regular Sept. 1 Scrabble and Mahjong groups have been canceled. As the library's lower-level recarpeting project continues, the library has now specified delayed openings on Aug. 31 (1 p.m.), Sept. 8 (1 p.m.) and Sept. 11 (10 a.m.), in addition to the previously announced closure.

COMING UP

The library's Children's Department hosts drop-in family activities Saturday, Aug. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hopkinton High School holds its Senior Sunrise gathering Thursday, Sept. 3, from 6 to 8 a.m. Hopkinton Public Schools have no classes Monday, Sept. 7, for Labor Day, and preschool begins Sept. 8 and 9. The library's virtual civics program is Sept. 1 and its Fairview Estates visit is Sept. 2, both noted above.
