Hopkinton Library Sets Lower-Level Closure for Carpeting Project

HOPKINTON — The Hopkinton Public Library will close its lower level for nine days starting Monday, Aug. 31, through Tuesday, Sept. 8, so crews can install new carpeting, the library announced, an interruption that lands on top of Sunday closures the library has already kept in place through the summer.

The Hopkinton Public Library's lower level will be off-limits from Aug. 31 through Sept. 8 for a recarpeting project; the library has posted an FAQ on its website for patrons with questions about the work and has asked for patience during the closure. The library remains closed on Sundays and expects to stay that way at least through the fall, meaning current hours run Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Programming continues on its normal schedule ahead of the shutdown. A Monday, Aug. 26 session of D20's Dungeons & Dragons campaign for ages 18-25 has been canceled, but the library's other youth and adult offerings are proceeding as scheduled this week.

COMING UP

The library hosts Read to a Therapy Dog on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 7 to 7:45 p.m. in the Children's Department. A virtual program, "High Altitudes and High Stakes," runs Thursday, Aug. 27, from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by Drop-In Board Games from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Children's Programming Room. On Friday, Aug. 28, the library offers Babytime at 9:15 a.m. and Little Explorers at 10:30 a.m., both in the Children's Programming Room. The library's lower level closes for carpet replacement starting Monday, Aug. 31, and is expected to reopen Tuesday, Sept. 8.
