Hopkinton Town Hall and Library to Close Four Days for Independence Day Weekend

Town Hall and most municipal offices will shut down for four consecutive days starting Thursday as Hopkinton observes Independence Day, while the library lines up a busy Tuesday evening before the long closure.

TOWN HALL

Hopkinton Town Hall, all municipal offices, the Hopkinton Public Library, and the Hopkinton Senior Center will be closed Thursday, July 2, and Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. The library will also remain closed Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5, with regular hours resuming Monday, July 6. Residents should note that the library is closed on Sundays throughout the summer season as standard practice.

Curbside trash pickup will not be affected — collection runs on its normal schedule with no delay over the holiday weekend.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Before the long weekend sets in, the Hopkinton Public Library has a full slate on Tuesday, July 1. A library visit to Fairview Estates is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon. In the afternoon, a Quarterly Library Volunteer Interest Orientation runs from 4 to 4:30 p.m. in the Betty Strong Room, offering residents a chance to learn how to get involved. The evening brings Anime Movie Night for teens from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., also in the Betty Strong Room, and a D20's Dungeons & Dragons Campaign for adults ages 18 to 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Ellsworth Conference Room. The library's popular Read to a Therapy Dog session rounds out the night from 7 to 7:45 p.m. in the Children's Department.

The library's June Guest Librarians feature is still live on the library website — Ian Richardson, Administrative Assistant for the Town Clerk's office and Human Resources, and his fiancé Ashleigh shared a curated list of horror recommendations. Residents interested in becoming a Guest Librarian can contact Library Director Nanci Hill at nhill@hopkintonma.gov.
