School Committee · Meeting of September 11, 2026

Hopkinton School Committee adopted a three-run bus schedule for the 2027-2028 school year. Members voted unanimously for "option four," setting high school and middle school starts at 7:45 a.m., Hopkins Elementary at 8:25 a.m., and Marathon and Charles Wood elementary schools at 9:05 a.m. Staff presenter Evan said the choice would save roughly $140,000 more than a rival three-run option and cited survey data showing 84 percent of 133 high school staff and about 70 percent of 838 student respondents preferred the earlier 7:45 a.m. time.

One member said she was swayed partly by concern for families who "can't afford to purchase a bus pass" for older students. The committee also heard a report showing Hopkinton's educator retention rate at 94 percent against a state average of 87 percent, and deferred action on updating long-stalled committee goals.
