Town Meeting · Meeting of October 26, 2026

Hopkinton's special town meeting dissolved Monday after a quorum check found only 127 of the required 131 voters present. Voters had already rejected two bids to change the annual town meeting's date and format, including a unanimous "no action" vote on moving the meeting to February and a 55-72 defeat of a weekday requirement. Town Meeting member Matt Kisner argued the current weekend schedule "was disenfranchising voters in this community." Earlier, voters approved a cost study for snow and ice removal on private roads, 95-58, and raised the private way repair spending limit, 113-49.

A bylaw review committee proposal failed, 41-103. Town Counsel Jay Tallerman said a provision in the private-roads article could not compel the town manager's budget process.
