Conservation · Meeting of September 30, 2026

Hopkinton's Conservation Commission raised alarms over sediment reaching a protected pond near the Charleswood School construction site, directing the project team to investigate two overflow dry wells and revise its stormwater pollution prevention plan. Conservation Administrator Judy Day said she personally observed turbid water entering the pond and disputed contractor claims that every catch basin was protected, saying "I have to disagree with that statement." Commission member Matt Moyen said infiltration systems "should not be accepting any construction term flow." In other business, the commission voted 6-0 to continue the Hopkinton DPW's Granite Street culvert replacement hearing to October 20 pending a state file number, and voted 7-0 to approve a dam repair at Zero Franklin Road with a reduced, roughly $2,000-lower filing fee. Two smaller driveway and sunroom applications received unanimous negative determinations.
