Hopkinton Conservation Commission Approves Two Lakefront Cases, Opens New Wetland Violation

HOPKINTON — January 28, 2026 — Hopkinton Conservation Commission approves two after-the-fact Lake Maspenock lakefront permits and opens a new wetland violation case at a West Elm Street mosque property. At the January 28 remote session, the panel voted unanimously to approve a notice of intent for 47 Oakhurst Road, where applicant representative Andrew Tebow of Goddard presented a revised plan reducing patio within the 25-foot no-disturb zone to as little as 84 square feet and increasing mitigation plantings to 950 square feet, a ratio of better than 7-to-1; staff Judy Day will draft a companion enforcement order for the required removals. A separate lakefront case at 37 Oakhurst Road was continued to February 24 after member Matt Moyen pressed for expanded planting beds and documentation of existing dry wells. The commission also issued a cease-and-desist against the Islamic Society of Greater Milford at 2 West Elm Street after staff discovered one to two feet of fill placed directly against a wetland edge during a January 16 site visit, with restoration plans now required. New member Margaret Shaw joined the commission for the first time, abstaining from votes throughout the session.
