Library Lower Level to Close for Carpet Project Starting Sept. 1
Hopkinton Public Library will close its entire lower level from September 1 through September 8 for a new carpet installation, cutting off the CreatorSpace, Local History collections and study rooms for more than a week starting later this month.
TOWN HALL
Main Street's eastbound lane remains detoured from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through August 21 as part of the town's Main Street Corridor Project. The library's Main Street entrance has been inaccessible during construction, and visitors are being directed to use the Church Street entrance in the meantime. The town's project website has additional updates for residents planning trips downtown.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The library announced its lower level will close entirely from September 1 through September 8 while crews install new carpeting, with delayed 1 p.m. openings on August 31 and September 8 so staff can relocate materials beforehand. During the closure, patrons will still have access to a limited selection of nonfiction titles, some newspapers and magazines, two computers with shortened sessions, one printer, and hotspot loans and holds, but the CreatorSpace, Local History collections, study rooms and faxing services will be unavailable until the work wraps up.
The library's summer reading program is also wrapping up: Friday, August 14, is the last day for patrons to claim or enter tickets for book prizes, with winners drawn and notified on August 18, a continuation of the reading log's close-out the library flagged earlier this week.
COMING UP
The library has a run of programs over the next several days: Drop-in Family Activities in the Children's Department on August 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; CreatorSpace Drop-in Drawing on August 17 from 10 a.m. to noon; Unplugged Coding for Kids on August 17 from 3 to 4 p.m.; YA CreatorSpace Crafternoon on August 17 from 3 to 5 p.m.; Drop-In CreatorSpace Hours on August 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and Baby & Toddler Storytime on August 18 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Summer Reading winners are due to be drawn and notified August 18 as well.
